HIV/AIDS Prevention & Care
To build community capacity for HIV prevention, care and support for people living with HIV, and to help young people understand and use HIV services.
Who it serves
Young people aged 10–30, in and out of school; orphans and other vulnerable children; and young people living with HIV, across Kasese District.
What this work involves
- Train peer educators, and train teachers in HIV/AIDS life skills and the running of youth clubs.
- Provide HIV counselling and testing in schools and communities, and link young people who test positive to care.
- Provide psychosocial support so young people living with HIV can disclose their status to family and keep to their treatment.
- Bring communities into the work through dialogue meetings, training events and youth-friendly information materials.

A KADYFA needs assessment carried out in Kidodo village, Kasese Municipality, in November 2018 found gaps in the availability of HIV services for out-of-school youth, and low uptake of HIV testing among them.
